PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
